Modern Woodmen of America has unveiled MoneyMasters, a free financial literacy program provided exclusively by the fraternal financial services organization. It aims to help teachers develop financial know-how in students from kindergarten through high school.
Money management is a surprisingly uncommon – but important – skill. Blending in-class and digital lessons with engaging, grade-appropriate examples, the MoneyMasters program helps students feel connected to the material. The program integrates with subjects like mathematics, social studies, economics, technology and business, aligns with Jump$tart Standards and can be customized to fit existing curriculums.
Once the program is completed, classrooms may be eligible to receive funds for a community service capstone project, where students can practice the skills they learned while benefiting a local cause.
“Fraternalism is, in a nutshell, the act of connecting with your community,” says Kristen Roberts, Fraternal Operations Manager at Modern Woodmen. “As a fraternal organization, it’s important for Modern Woodmen to include that community-impact element when building the MoneyMasters program.”
Each MoneyMasters program is offered by a local Modern Woodmen financial representative, whose expertise can be a resource for the classroom. Modern Woodmen expects to reach 200,000 students through MoneyMasters each year.
