Calling all humans! Ready to spend the year connecting with animals?

Modern Woodmen’s 2024 Wild About Animals initiative celebrates the important role animals play in our lives and environment -- from supporting mental and physical health to providing community service. Members nationwide are showing some love to animals … and helping humans in the process.

See how member chapters and youth service clubs will connect with animals throughout the year.

January, February, March: Members will partner with local animal shelters to provide needed supplies, learn about the importance of shelters, or raise funds in support of shelters.

April, May, June: Members will host events that support local pets and give opportunities for families to spend time with animals.

July, August, September: Members will be hosting activities that support, improve and educate about local wildlife.

October, November, December: Members will host activities that honor, support and educate about service animals and the impact they make on the lives of humans.

Members go wild for animals!

See the impact members are making nationwide.

Rock Island, Illinois: Members of the Summit chapter held a rock ‘n’ roll bingo night for New Kingdom Trailriders. The organization empowers riders of all ages and abilities, who face physical, mental, social, or emotional struggles, through therapeutic horseback riding. They support nearly 200 riders throughout their riding season. The event raised $8,333 and Modern Woodmen matched proceeds up to $2,500 – for a grand total of $10,833 donated!

Charlotte, North Carolina: The local chapter held a service project at Happy Misfits Farm Sanctuary - an organization that takes animals in after being neglected or abused. For their project, members installed fences in a field for animals to graze, a “run” for horses to exercise, and a shelter for animals to have shade while in the field.

Twin Falls, Idaho: Members visited the local Twin Falls Zoological Center. Members of all ages cleaned cages, created a trout riverbed and fed the animals. The littlest members became amateur archaeologists by digging for treasure in the dino pit.

Plain City, Utah: The chapter got together at their local coffee shop for a social activity. They were able to chat and meet each other’s four-legged friends. The humans enjoyed their beverages, while the dogs got a special “pup cup” treat. Each furry friend left with their very own Modern Woodmen branded tennis ball and bandana.

Bemidji, Minnesota: Local financial representatives organized a matching fund event for Great River Rescue, a local shelter that helps pets across the state of Minnesota. The shelter created an online campaign to raise funds, and Modern Woodmen matched up to $2,500! The representatives visited the shelter to tour their facility and give lots of puppy cuddles (see below).

Canton, Illinois: The local youth service club fulfilled animals’ wish lists. They contacted a local shelter to see what supplies were needed for their dogs and cats. Items included food and toys, and everyday things like detergent. The items will keep animal residents happy and healthy.

Nephi, Utah: The local youth service club donated items for their animal shelter. They brought treats and sleeping mats for the animals (shown below). Members of all ages had fun interacting with the animals when dropping off the items. Nephi-UT_Go-Wild-For-Animal-Shelters_700x450.jpg

Clinton, South Carolina: A chapter visited their local animal shelter and brought supplies. While there, two members even adopted pets!

Theresa, Wisconsin: Members held a “Furry Feud” matching fund event. Teams went head-to-head, answering animal themed questions. The proceeds went to the local humane society.
